ThyssenKrupp Elevator is opening its newly established Escalator Business Center (EBC) in Berlin on October 1, 2010. The global sales activities for escalators and moving walks will be combined in the new company. The specialist team will be responsible for order management and technical support, the aim being to speed up processes to provide an enhanced response to growing worldwide customer requirements in the future.

With Christian Kley (Chief Operating Officer) and Michael B. Müller (Chief Sales and Marketing Officer), the new ThyssenKrupp Elevator (EBC) GmbH is headed by two experienced employees of ThyssenKrupp Elevator. As well as providing sales support, the new Escalator Business Center creates a central requirements and product management system. To gain increased proximity to customers and intensify existing customer relations, branches will be opened in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Zhongshan (China).

The main reasons for selecting Berlin as the new location for the Escalator Business Center were the city's good infrastructure, the support provided by the Berlin authorities, and also the synergies with other local ThyssenKrupp companies. The Group already employs almost 800 people in the German capital.
