To achieve this goal ThyssenKrupp Elevator - Operating Unit Escalator/Passenger Boarding Bridges places in Gijón (Spain) its worldwide Innovation Center for Research & Development (R&D) for escalators, moving walks, TurboTrack and passenger boarding bridges.

This centre, independent from the Manufacturing Centres, is situated at the Universidad Laboral of the Principado de Asturias, within the City of Culture. It is close to collaboration entities such as Universities, R&D and Technological Centres.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator (ES/PBB) developed and manufactured a new solution for boarding the Airbus A380. These passenger boarding bridges are installed at the Airbus Delivery Centre in Toulouse and in main airports all over the world such as Paris-Charles de Gaulle, London-Heathrow, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Munich, Toronto, Dubai, Guangzhou, etc.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator Innovation Center developed a radical solution for horizontal passenger transportation - TurboTrack. It is installed at the Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto, and it obtained the TÜV SÜD and TSSA Certifications in August 2008.
